TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Gerindra Party Secretary-General Ahmad Muzani stated that President Prabowo Subianto values perspectives from various national figures, including those of Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) Chairperson and former President Megawati Soekarnoputri, for his leadership.
"I think a meeting between the two leaders is good, as Pak Prabowo needs input from diverse figures," Muzani said at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday, April 17, 2025.
He emphasized Soekarno's daughter's extensive experience leading the nation, suggesting her insights on governance are invaluable to the President. While unaware of any planned follow-up meetings, he believes the initial meeting between Prabowo and Megawati had a positive impact.
Prabowo and Megawati met on April 7, 2025, at Megawati's residence in Menteng, Central Jakarta, after a delayed arrangement.
PDIP Central Executive Board Chairperson Puan Maharani revealed that the meeting focused on potential collaboration. "The topics discussed naturally pertained to how to collaborate in the joint effort of building the nation and the state," Puan stated on Monday, April 14, 2025.
During the meeting, she conveyed that Megawati expressed her support for the current Red and White Cabinet government. "PDIP will collaborate to build, assist, and work together in carrying out future presidential duties alongside Pak Prabowo," affirmed Puan, who also serves as the Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR).
