Prabowo Faces 35% Public Dissatisfaction, IPO Survey Finds

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An Indonesia Political Opinion (IPO) survey indicates that the level of public dissatisfaction with President Prabowo Subianto's performance has reached 35 percent. Nevertheless, the majority of survey respondents still view Prabowo's performance positively.

IPO Executive Director Dedi Kurnia Syah believes this satisfaction level demonstrates that public perception of the administration remains relatively stable. "Satisfaction levels still outweigh dissatisfaction; this indicates that the majority of the public still sees the government's efforts as proceeding along the right track," Dedi said in a written statement on Saturday, August 8, 2026.

Specifically, the IPO survey found that 57 percent of respondents were satisfied and 6 percent were very satisfied with Prabowo Subianto's work. This places the overall public satisfaction rate at 63 percent.

Meanwhile, 30 percent of respondents expressed dissatisfaction, 5 percent were very dissatisfied, and another 2 percent stated they did not know or did not answer.

The IPO survey also identified several factors that most strongly influence positive public perception of President Prabowo. The free nutritious meal project—known as MBG—was the factor most frequently cited by respondents, at 15.7 percent.

Furthermore, 12.5 percent of respondents noted the Head of State's active stance against corruption, 11 percent cited the provision of social assistance as a primary reason, and 7.2 percent stated that government programs had delivered tangible, direct benefits.

Additionally, 5.8 percent of the public appreciated the President's leadership style, describing it as firm and impartial; 4 percent viewed Prabowo as capable of navigating various crisis situations; 3.8 percent believed he had successfully improved economic conditions; and 3.5 percent felt he genuinely cares about the people.

Other factors contributing to positive public perception included ease of finding employment, political stability, Indonesia's rising stature in the eyes of other nations, and attention paid to international issues and specific societal groups. Dedi explained that these findings indicate the public tends to base its assessments on policies that yield direct, tangible benefits in their daily lives. "While there are some areas noted for concern, President Prabowo Subianto is generally viewed as performing well," Dedi stated.

Although public satisfaction remains high, IPO cautioned the government to pay attention to sectors that continue to draw public criticism. Consistency in implementing priority programs—coupled with improved governance and enhanced public service quality—is considered crucial for maintaining and boosting public trust in the government.

The Indonesia Political Opinion national survey was conducted between July 27 and August 3, 2026. A total of 1,200 respondents participated, selected using a multistage random sampling method. The survey has a confidence level of 95 percent and a margin of error of approximately 2.9 percent.
