TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is reportedly going to reshuffle his Red and White Cabinet at the State Palace in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, September 17, 2025. The Head of State is rumored to inaugurate vacant ministerial posts, namely the Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs and the Minister of Youth and Sports.
The Head of the Development Control and Special Investigation Agency (Bappisus), Aries Marsudiyanto, said the reshuffle is the president's prerogative. "We'll see. You can ask the State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi," he said at the Presidential Palace in Central Jakarta, on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.
Several Tempo sources have mentioned Djamari Chaniago as the running candidate for the new Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs, to replace former minister Budi Gunawan. The post is currently held ad interim by Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin.
The same sources also float Erick Thohir and Rahayu Saraswati as rumored to be in the running for the new Minister of Youth and Sports to replace Dito Ariotedjo. Regarding this, Aries Marsudiyanto reiterated that the vacant minister positions are the president's prerogative.
Meanwhile, the State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi has not yet responded to Tempo's confirmation regarding the names.
President Prabowo Subianto previously inaugurated four ministers and one deputy minister at the State Palace in Central Jakarta on Monday afternoon, September 8, 2025. The inauguration was held after Prabowo rearranged the composition of coordinating ministers, ministers, and deputy ministers. Those who were replaced included the Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Budi Gunawan; Minister of Cooperatives Budi Arie; Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo; Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, and Minister of Migrant Workers Protection Abdul Kadir Karding.
State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi assured that the cabinet reshuffle is not intended to dismiss the legacy ministers from former President Joko Widodo's administration. He claimed that the new ministers are the "best children of the nation," adding that selecting the aides is Prabowo's prerogative.
The ministers and deputy ministers were inaugurated based on Presidential Decree Number 86 of 2025. This decree appointed Mochamad Irfan Yusuf as the Minister of Hajj and Umrah; Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak as the Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah; Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa as the Finance Minister; Mukhtarudin as the Minister of Migrant Workers Protection; and Ferry Juliantono as the Cooperatives Minister.
