TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto, alongside United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, inaugurated the Emirates-Indonesia Cardiology Hospital (RS KEI) in Solo, Central Java, on Wednesday. The facility was constructed using a US$25 million, or approximately Rp417.3 billion, grant from the UAE.
In his address, President Prabowo described the hospital as a symbol of the close relationship between Indonesia and the UAE. He emphasized that the project reflects Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed’s long-standing goodwill toward Indonesia.
"I welcome the presence of the Emirates-Indonesia Cardiology Hospital with great pride and happiness. This hospital is a symbol of friendship between our two nations," Prabowo said during the inauguration on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.
Prabowo acknowledged that the hospital was an initiative of the 7th Indonesian President, Joko "Jokowi" Widodo. He remarked that he was simply fortunate to have the opportunity to officiate it. "The construction of this hospital began at the initiative of President Jokowi during his term. I am lucky to inaugurate it—that is a destiny I cannot refuse," he added.
According to Prabowo, providing healthcare is a state obligation and a key indicator of a country's success in serving its people. He noted that RS KEI features some of the most advanced medical technology in the nation. "Only four hospitals in Indonesia have such advanced equipment. For the Central Java region, this is the first," he stated.
Prabowo also revealed that the government is currently constructing 66 new high-standard hospitals across various regions, aiming for every regency and city to possess a technologically advanced hospital within the next four years.
Solo Mayor Respati Ardi expressed his gratitude for the facility. He noted that the hospital is now operational and ready to serve the community. "Alhamdulillah, I am very happy that it is finally inaugurated and has started operating," Respati said.
Respati thanked Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin for his support throughout the construction. He explained that while the hospital stands on land owned by the Solo municipal government, he hopes the international-standard facility will benefit the entire nation.
"This belongs to the people of Solo, but our hope is that its benefits will be felt by all of Indonesia. This is a great blessing for the city," he concluded.
