TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned oil and gas firm Pertamina has addressed circulating rumors regarding a potential price increase for non-subsidized fuels (BBM) set for April 2026. The state-owned energy giant affirmed that the information currently spreading through the community has not been verified for accuracy.

"The information about the projected increase in fuel prices circulating cannot be accounted for," stated Pertamina's Vice President of Corporate Communication, Muhammad Baron, in a written message to Tempo on Monday, March 30, 2026.

Baron noted that there has been no official announcement regarding fuel prices effective as of April 1, 2026. He urged the public to rely solely on official information provided through the company's formal channels.

He also requested that the public wait for an official statement from Pertamina via its website, www.pertamina.com. "Pertamina supports the government's call to use energy wisely," he added.

Previously, screenshots detailing an alleged spike in non-subsidized fuel prices went viral on social media. The document fragments claimed that fuel costs were expected to rise significantly in April 2026, following a surge in the market index price (HIP).

The document suggested that the HIP for RON 92 gasoline was expected to climb by approximately 62.99 percent, while gasoil (diesel) was projected to soar by 91.30 percent.

The circulating details included specific price projections for several products. Pertamax was rumored to jump from Rp12,300 to Rp17,850 per liter. Pertamax Green 95 was projected to reach Rp19,150 per liter, with Pertamax Turbo hitting Rp19,450 per liter.

Meanwhile, the steepest rumored increases involved non-subsidized diesel fuels. Pertamina Dex was projected to rise to Rp23,950 per liter, while Dexlite was tagged at Rp23,650 per liter.

In response, Laode Sulaeman, Director General of Oil and Gas at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), could not confirm the reports. He stated that any developments regarding non-subsidized fuel prices would be officially announced on Wednesday, April 1, 2026.

Nevertheless, Laode confirmed that subsidized fuel prices will remain unchanged. "It is important to note that there is no increase for subsidized fuel," Laode stated in a written message on Monday, March 30, 2026.
