TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei met President Masoud Pezeshkian on Sunday, August 9, to discuss developments regarding Iran's economy, military, and defense.
The meeting marked Khamenei's first public and media appearance after remaining out of sight for five months.
According to a statement on the Iranian leader's Telegram channel, their meeting addressed economic and military matters.
The statement noted that the two held extensive discussions on national challenges, specifically securing basic needs for the public, the status of the "Third Imposed War" moving forward, and military developments.
Khamenei and Pezeshkian discussed Iran's economic and financial situation, particularly the status of the rial, the energy sector, and foreign economic cooperation, according to the Supreme Leader's media outlet.
The statement followed the circulation of a video showing Khamenei across Iranian media.
Previously, Khamenei had not appeared in public or in the media for five months, dating back to the onset of the conflict between Iran and the United States. The statement did not address the release of the video.
