TEMPO.CO, Hong Kong- Ocean Park in Hong Kong offers an experience that few can enjoy: the chance to witness giant pandas up close. Until now, most people have only known giant pandas from cartoons or through television and the internet.
The tourist destination located at 180 Wong Chuk Hang Road, Aberdeen, is home to six pandas. They are a family of pandas consisting of father, Le Le, mother, Ying Ying, and a pair of twin cubs, Jia Jia and De De. The other two, Ke Ke and An An, arrived from China just last September.
Le Le and his family live in the same area but in separate enclosures. Ying Ying and the twins live in the adjacent enclosure. When met at the site, a staff member of Ocean Park said the separation was done since the panda cubs were born.

The Marriage of Le Le and Ying Ying
The story of Le Le and Ying Ying has captured public attention. The two pandas were reported to have finally mated naturally after living together for ten years. Their mating occurred in March 2020, after the zoo was temporarily closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Tempo had the opportunity to see the panda family up close when visiting Ocean Park Hong Kong on Friday, July 25, as part of the Summer Viva Media Fam Trip event held for four days from July 24-27, 2025, organized by the Hong Kong Tourism Board.
That afternoon, the twins Jia Jia and De De, who would turn 1 year old on August 15, were playing with their mother. They looked adorable as they rolled around on the wooden benches under the tree. Occasionally, one of them would move closer to hug their mother. Not far from their enclosure, the father Le Le, who lived separately, was busy eating bamboo leaves.
"So sweet," commented a woman who was holding her daughter while watching the panda mothers interact with their cubs.
Most visitors were preoccupied with their gadgets, recording the pandas as they moved about. Some were taking photos with pandas in the background. Others were focused on watching a slide show featuring photos of Jia Jia and De De displayed on a screen near the panda enclosure.
From the images, moments of Ying Ying giving birth to her cubs were captured on camera, followed by photos of the twin baby pandas, including pictures when they were just one day old, seven days old, one month old, and when they started to walk.
Two other pandas, An An and Ke Ke, lived in separate but adjacent enclosures. Both the male and female pandas are six years old.
During the visit, Ke Ke was playing outside while An An remained in her room. Visitors could observe An An's activities in her room through a live CCTV feed displayed on screens in each enclosure.
After observing the pandas, visitors could purchase panda souvenirs, including stuffed animals, keychains, fridge magnets, bags, and hats, at a nearby shop.
The panda family can be visited at Ocean Park Hong Kong every day from 10:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. local time. The entrance ticket is priced at HK$498 for those aged 12 and above, and HK$249 for children aged 3-11. Children under three years old enter for free.
