TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Liverpool clinches the 2024/2025 Premier League title after defeating Tottenham Hotspur with a score of 5-1 at Anfield Stadium on Sunday, April 27, 2025. They secured their 20th title or the second in the Premier League era.

Liverpool's victory over Tottenham was thanks to goals from Luis Diaz (16'), Alexis Mac Allister (24'), Cody Gakpo (34'), Mohamed Salah (63'), and Destiny Udogie (own goal, 69'). Tottenham initially took the lead through Dominic Solanke's goal (12').

Liverpool is guaranteed to stay at the top of the 2024-2025 Premier League standings until the end of the season. They have accumulated 82 points, leading by 15 points over Arsenal, who have four games remaining.

This time, they were able to celebrate the title in front of their own supporters. In 2020, when they last won, the competition was held without any spectators due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

What do the players have to say about this championship title? Liverpool's website features some of their comments:

Cody Gakpo

"This is amazing. We've worked really hard this year. (We've had) special moments, moments that were lacking in the Champions League, but to achieve this is extraordinary. The impact from the Netherlands, I think you've already seen it. Virgil (van Dijk) has been here for a long time, but this year Ryan (Gravenberch) has played like we know him in the Netherlands, he's playing like that here."

"It's truly amazing to see him play like this, and of course the coach tactically brought the whole team to a higher level, and I think it's in line with the players we have now. Hopefully, we can be more prepared in the coming years, but this is a good start."

Alexis Mac Allister

"Winning the World Cup and now the Premier League is something very special. It's an achievement that I really, really enjoy - but it wouldn't have been possible without my teammates. They are the most important thing for me. I am just one part of this puzzle."

"This team is truly great. Last year, we showed it but it wasn't enough in the end. This time, we made a big difference. It's something very special, and hopefully, with this victory, we can enjoy it."

Andy Robertson

"The last time we won, it was a strange moment, but I think we felt the same way when facing Man United at home. It was enough for that time with a 16 or 19-point lead. It's not like when we actually won and then the world stopped (Covid pandemic). The way we did it was quite unique."

"We enjoyed it, of course, but you can't beat what we experienced today and how we stepped onto the field and the fans during and after the match. Nothing can compare to that, and I'm glad we could also experience it that way."

Mohamed Salah

"Incredible. Incredible to win the Premier League here with the fans - it's something special. You saw it today and you saw it in the game. It's an incredible feeling to win the Premier League here with Liverpool and the fans."

"It's much better (than five years ago), 100 percent... It feels more special with the fans, but I don't want to take it away from anyone. You have a different group now and a different manager. To show that you are capable of doing it again is something special."

Virgil van Dijk

"It's special and something we didn't take for granted. It's amazing. It's truly amazing what happened today. There were a lot of emotions before the match and throughout the week, but we managed to finish it. We really deserve to be champions."

"It's the most beautiful club in the world, and I think they deserve all of this. Let's enjoy the next few weeks and let it all sink in."

Alisson Becker

"Oh God, it's hard to express it in words. However, this is very meaningful. A mix of feelings. Frankly, I am very emotional, many things came to my mind. So many sacrifices we have made. So many challenges we had to face; manager changes, injuries. I myself suffered a serious injury this season, a concussion as well."

"However, winning today in the way we did, in front of the supporters, with the fantastic game we played, is fantastic. Just (being able to) lift the trophy today will make us feel very satisfied. However, this is amazing, special."
