TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesia U-23 national team will face Mali once again at Pakansari Stadium in Bogor, Indonesia, on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.
This second friendly match, part of Indonesia’s preparations for the 2025 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, is scheduled to kick off at 08:00 PM Western Indonesia Time (WIB). It will be broadcast on the Indonesian TV network Indosiar and streamed on Vidio.
In their first meeting, Indonesia conceded an early goal. Five minutes into the match, goalkeeper Cahya Supriadi was beaten from a corner-kick situation, with Sekau Doucoure heading in Hamidou Makalao’s cross. Mali extended their lead in the 33rd minute after a solo effort from Wilson Samake on the left wing.
Indonesia pushed for a response after the break, but Ivar Jenner and the rest of the squad were unable to produce a goal. In stoppage time, Mali sealed a 3–0 win when Moulaye Haidara capitalized on a defensive error by Kadek Arel.
Head coach Indra Sjafri expressed disappointment with the result but said the team’s overall performance showed promise. He emphasized that despite the mistakes, there were several positives to take from the match.
“There were errors, one from a set piece that should have been avoidable. And then Kakang (Rudianto) stepped forward too aggressively,” Indra said.
“Against a high-quality team like Mali, even small mistakes can have significant consequences.”
The Mali fixture marks Indonesia’s second test following two friendlies against India in October, which ended in a 1–2 loss and a 1–1 draw.
After the second match against Mali, Indra and his coaching staff will finalize the squad by selecting 23 players for the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand this December. The team currently has 30 players in their second and final training camp before the tournament.
