TEMPO.COJakarta - Indonesia's Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has once again seized a number of assets allegedly related to the corruption of the hajj quota at the Ministry of Religious Affairs in 2023-2024. KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo said the seizure was conducted by investigators on Tuesday, November 17, 2025.

"The seizure is necessary for the needs of the investigation as well as the initial step of asset recovery optimization," Budi said in a written statement on Wednesday, 19 November 2025.

In the operation, investigators sealed off a residential property in the Jabodetabek area along with its ownership documents. In addition, the KPK also seized a Mazda CX-3 car and two motorcycles, namely the Vespa Sprint Iget 150 and the Honda PCX.

According to Budi, all of the assets were seized from a private party suspected of obtaining the assets from the criminal act of corruption in the hajj quota arrangement for the 2023-2024 pilgrimage.

KPK is still tracing the flow of funds and other assets related to the case. Investigators are still mapping out the parties involved in transactions and the receipt of facilities in the alleged corruption of the hajj quota.

KPK began investigating allegations of deviations in the 2024 hajj quota since mid-August 2025. The allegations of deviations in the determination of the hajj quota originated from the findings of the Special Committee (Pansus) Inquiry of Hajj. This committee was formed after the Hajj Supervisory Team of the House of Representatives found several problems in the implementation of the hajj pilgrimage that fell under the responsibility of the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

The formation of the committee was approved through a plenary meeting of the House of Representatives on Thursday, 4 July 2024. The committee assessed that the Ministry of Religious Affairs had violated the distribution of the 2024 hajj quota. Committee member Wisnu Wijaya explained that the violation occurred when the Ministry of Religious Affairs set a quota of 221,000 for regular hajj and added an additional 20,000 quota.

KPK predicts that the state losses due to the alleged corruption of the hajj quota may reach Rp1 trillion. This figure is based on the anti-corruption agency's internal calculations. "So the initial calculation figure is more than Rp1 trillion," said Budi Prasetyo on August 11.
