TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Jakarta stated that several points in Jakarta were still flooded on Wednesday morning, July 9, 2025. Based on BPBD Jakarta's monitoring data at 04:00, there were nine neighborhood units (RT) and two roads in Jakarta that were inundated.
The Head of the Jakarta BPBD Task Force, Isnawa Adji, said that several flood points occurred in West Jakarta and North Jakarta. He mentioned that there were seven RT and two roads in West Jakarta that were still experiencing flooding. Meanwhile, in North Jakarta, two RT were inundated in Kapuk Muar Sub-district.
"The cause is high rainfall, river overflow, and high tide," he said in his statement on Wednesday, July 9, 2025.
Meanwhile, several flood points in Jakarta include:
- West Jakarta
1. Duri Kosambi Sub-district with two RT, with a flood height reaching 30 to 40 centimeters.
2. Rawa Buaya Sub-district with two RT, with a water inundation height of 60 centimeters.
3. South Kembangan Sub-district with one RT, with a flood height of 35 to 40 centimeters.
4. North Kembangan Sub-district with one RT, with a flood height reaching 100 centimeters.
- North Jakarta
1. Kapuk Muara Sub-district with two RT, with a water height reaching 25 to 30 centimeters.
BPBD also noted two flooded road sections in Jakarta. Namely, on Bojong Indah Raya Street, Rawa Buaya Sub-district, West Jakarta with a water height of 15 centimeters. Flooding also occurred on Pulo Indah Raya Street, Duri Kosambi Sub-district, Cengkareng District, West Jakarta with a water inundation reaching 10 centimeters.
Previously, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo apologized for not being able to handle the floods. He expressed this stance to the public after floods reappeared in several points in the capital since Sunday, July 6, 2025.
"Specifically, I want to apologize to the affected residents," said Pramono while inspecting the Ciliwung River Inspection Dam in Pancoran, South Jakarta on Tuesday, July 8, 2025.
Pramono also urged the Jakarta Provincial Government officials not to hesitate to apologize to the public for the floods. He stated that the floods were not something they had planned. According to the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) politician, floods are a certainty in Jakarta. "There are things that, I'm sorry, cannot be fought," said Pramono.
Some of the things he considered unable to be fought include the fact that Jakarta will inevitably receive water flow from upstream rivers outside the city. In addition, he said, the high sea level during tides that causes the river water to not flow is also a factor.
Nevertheless, Pramono mentioned that he did not want to blame external floods from outside the city. He stated that they would deal with these often unmanageable conditions as best as they could. "We will optimize river pumps to divert water to the sea," he said. In addition, he also asked field officers to clear blockages in water channels such as drains and rivers. Pramono also stated that they would soon execute the normalization of the Ciliwung River to accommodate larger water discharge.
