TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Eight Palestinians, including two children, were killed in a series of Israeli airstrikes across the Gaza Strip on Sunday, despite an announced agreement to advance the next phase of a ceasefire plan.
Medical sources at Nasser Hospital in the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis reported that three Palestinians were killed and three others wounded when an Israeli airstrike hit an apartment in the Al-Qarara neighborhood northwest of the city.
Witnesses told news agency Anadolu that the strike hit an apartment belonging to the Al-Hams family, killing 38-year-old Mahmoud Zaki Al-Hams, his 37-year-old wife Fatima Al-Hams, and their young daughter. The bodies of the three victims were later brought to the hospital.
Local sources also reported that Israeli artillery shelled the Dar Al-Salam neighborhood in central Khan Younis. No casualties were reported as a result of that attack.
Meanwhile, in central Gaza, 68-year-old Kamal Abu Muailiq and his 59-year-old wife, Huda, were killed when an Israeli helicopter struck their home in the Al-Mashaala neighborhood, west of Deir al-Balah, according to medical sources and witnesses.
In Gaza City, another Israeli strike targeted an apartment in the Al-Sousi Towers near the port area. That strike killed three Palestinians, namely 33-year-old Abdullah Abu Taif, his 29-year-old wife Abeer Anan, and their five-year-old son, Azzam, according to medical sources at Al-Shifa Hospital.
Another Palestinian was wounded in a separate Israeli strike targeting an apartment near the Palestinian Mosque in western Gaza City's Al-Nasr neighborhood.
Elsewhere, an Israeli military vehicle opened fire east of the Al-Tuffah neighborhood in eastern Gaza City. No casualties were reported from the incident.
