TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Iran’s military said it launched strikes on targets in West Jerusalem, Haifa, and the U.S. Al Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates on Friday, according to a statement from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
“During the 66th phase of Operation True Promise 4, targets in West Jerusalem, Haifa, and the US Al Dhafra base in the region were successfully hit,” the IRGC said in a statement carried by Iran’s YJC news agency.
The elite force said the attack involved a combination of missiles, including the Kheibar Shekan, Zolfaghar, and Qadr, along with drones.
Iran has repeatedly targeted Israeli territory and U.S. military sites in the Middle East since the start of the current conflict, which began after the United States and Israel launched joint military operations against Iran on February 28.
The conflict has since escalated into a broader regional confrontation, with Iranian state media and international reports indicating repeated strikes on Israeli cities, U.S. facilities, and strategic energy infrastructure across the Gulf.
Reuters also reported on Friday that a senior IRGC spokesperson was killed in the latest round of U.S.-Israeli strikes, underscoring the intensifying hostilities.
Iranian authorities have said the first day of the U.S.-Israeli offensive killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and caused heavy civilian casualties, including the destruction of a girls’ school in southern Iran. Tehran has put the death toll from the war at more than 1,300.
The United States and Israel initially described their attacks as a “preemptive” move against what they called threats stemming from Iran’s nuclear program.
However, both countries later signaled that their objectives extended beyond military deterrence, with officials openly suggesting they sought political change in Tehran.
