TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Online Motorcycle Taxi (Ojol) Association, Garda Indonesia, will hold a protest in Jakarta this afternoon, Wednesday, September 17, 2025, coinciding with the commemoration of National Transportation Day.

The General Chairperson of the Online Motorcycle Taxi Association Garda Indonesia, Raden Igun Wicaksono, said there would be 2,000 to 5,000 people in the demonstration today. "2,000-5,000 ojol combined with two-wheeled online drivers, four-wheeled online drivers, and online couriers," Raden told Tempo on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.

Therefore, Igun urged Jakarta residents to choose alternative transportation besides online motorcycle taxis. "Garda Indonesia asks Jakarta residents to choose alternative modes of transportation on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, because most online transportation will deactivate the application en masse as a form of solidarity for the movement's action," he said.

Protesting the Minister of Transportation

Igun said that National Transportation Day was the right time to voice the Ministry of Transportation's decline since Dudy Purwaghandi was appointed as the minister. According to him, Dudy acted more like a businessman than as a minister.

He considered that Dudy preferred to support online transportation application companies and instead became a spokesperson for the application to reject the aspirations of ojol drivers. Garda considers that there has been a 'vendor-driven policy' where the transportation minister's policies have been controlled by online transportation application companies.

The 7 Demands

There are seven demands submitted for today's demonstration, including, first, urging the Online Transportation Bill to be included in the 2025-2026 National Legislation Program. Second, the association demands a maximum 10 percent commission from the application providers. Third, the association also requests the government to regulate the rates for delivering goods and food.

Fourth, demanding an investigative audit of the 5 percent commission taken by the application providers. Fifth, abolishing programs such as Aceng, Slot, Multi-Order, Paid Member, and others that harm driver partners. Sixth, demanding that President Prabowo Subianto remove Minister of Transportation Dudy. Seventh, urging the National Police Chief to thoroughly investigate the August 28 tragedy that killed Affan Kurniawan, an ojol driver.

Demonstration Route at Three Locations

The demonstration will be held at three locations, namely the DPR building, the State Palace, and the Ministry of Transportation office. Igun said the masses would gather at the Garda Indonesia headquarters on Jalan Kodam Raya Number 6, Sumur Batu, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta at 09:00 AM. "The mass route from Garda headquarters to the Presidential Palace for speeches. Then to the Ministry of Transportation for speeches and finally to the Indonesian House of Representatives," said Igun.
