Indonesia's Women and Child Protection Minister, Arifatul Choiri Fauzi, gave the opportunity for the game developers of Roblox to make improvements to their system.
"If they can be improved, it would be better. But if it is considered very disruptive and has a negative impact, it might be better to close or block it," said Arifatul at the Senayan Complex, Monday, August 18, 2025.
Arifatul assessed that society tends to want Roblox to be blocked. She stated that the game has a significant influence on children's development. "If we see, they even forget other activities because they are focused on the game," she said.
However, Arifatul explained that her ministry, as well as the Ministry of Digital Communication and the Ministry of Education, are still studying the follow-up actions against the game.
Regarding the in-game messaging feature, Arifatul said that it's not a problem as long as it's used for educational purposes. "It depends on the content of the chat. If it's for educational purposes, then it's fine," she said.
What is clear, according to Arifatul, is that anything containing violent actions is very dangerous. Moreover, Arifatul believes that sometimes children are not yet wise in using gadgets. "So, there must be guidance."
Roblox, a game that is currently popular among students, has drawn attention from the Minister of Education, Abdul Mu'ti. He said that the application offering various online games has the potential to be dangerous for children.
"There is a lot of violence in the game," Mu'ti said after reviewing the Free Health Check program at Cideng 02 Elementary School, Central Jakarta, Monday, August 4, 2025.
According to him, digital games have the potential to trigger violent behavior in children's daily lives because underage students are not yet able to distinguish between reality and fiction.
"Their level of intellect is still not sufficient. Sometimes they imitate what they see (on the Roblox gaming platform)," he said.
