TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) is preparing 3,250 personnel to support the planned deployment of Indonesian troops for a peacekeeping mission in Gaza.

According to Air Force spokesperson First Marshal I Nyoman Suadnyana, the personnel will form part of a Composite Battalion alongside units from the army and navy.

“The TNI AU is preparing 3,250 personnel who will join the Composite Battalion with the Indonesian Army and the Indonesian Navy,” Nyoman told Tempo on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.

He said the Air Force is also readying key weapon systems and air mobility assets, including transport aircraft and helicopters.

“From the alutsista aspect, the Air Force is preparing transport aircraft such as the C-130 and Boeing 737, as well as helicopters for air mobility support,” he noted.

Nyoman said preparations currently underway cover personnel, equipment, and operational logistics. These steps are being carried out in phases, with readiness prioritized before deployment. “Several preparations have been carried out gradually,” he said.

The Air Force’s main focus, he added, is ensuring that all units assigned to the mission are fully capable of carrying out their mandate in rapidly changing field conditions.

“Our priority is ensuring the readiness of personnel, alutsista, and operational support. In principle, all units being deployed must be ready to perform their duties,” he said.

Earlier, the Indonesian Armed Forces Headquarters stated that the 20,000 troops prepared for the Gaza mission consist of skilled and experienced soldiers familiar with non-combat military operations both at home and abroad.

President Prabowo Subianto previously announced Indonesia’s readiness to deploy 20,000 personnel to help support peace efforts in Gaza. He delivered the statement during his address at the 80th United Nations General Assembly in New York on September 23, 2025.
