TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian national team goalkeeper Maarten Paes won the Kelme Men's Goalkeeper of the Year award at the 2026 PSSI Awards at Studio 6 Emtek in Jakarta on Saturday. Paes outperformed his competitors, namely Emil Audero, Ernando Ari, Nadeo Argawinata, and Teja Paku Alam, as reported by Antara.
"I'm very grateful, and I want to congratulate the other goalkeepers for their incredible hard work this year," Paes said after the awards ceremony.
"Let's let Garuda fly high together with the spirit of togetherness and stay enthusiastic," continued the Ajax Amsterdam goalkeeper.
The 2026 PSSI Awards selection process was conducted through online and offline voting from January to March of this year. A total of 790,000 votes were cast during this period.
Although Paes acknowledged that the award was the result of his hard work, he also emphasized that it was inseparable from his teammates' contributions.
"I think this is a testament to my hard work, but it's always about teamwork. So let's use this as inspiration to win more trophies as a team," said Paes.
Paes believes that now is not the time to boost each player's ego, although he outperformed his competitors on the national team.
"It's not about ego. It's about the team process. I enjoy working with Emil, Nadeo, Cahya (Supriadi), and Ernando. Everyone who works with us, and it's about the emblem on our chest and the Garuda," he concluded.
