TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo claims that the anti-online gambling task force has handled 1,271 cases since its formation on November 4, 2024. The task force involves 22 ministries/agencies, including the Indonesian Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK).
"1,271 cases are being handled, and 1,456 individuals have currently been designated as suspects," said the police chief during the Risk-Based Mentoring Program (Promensisko) event at the PPATK Building, Jakarta, on Thursday, May 8, 2025.
Along with PPATK, the police have blocked 895 accounts with assets worth Rp133.5 billion, seized 4,820 accounts worth Rp328.78 billion, and bonds amounting to Rp276.5 billion.
The police chief expressed his gratitude to the PPATK and his subordinates who have arrested online gambling operators and blocked related accounts.
He mentioned that there is currently a threat of online gambling from groups originating from countries not commonly active in Indonesia, such as China.
"They come from China, then deposit small amounts so that almost all society can participate. The disguise patterns are also extraordinary," he explained.
Sigit continued, "It's as if they are conducting IT business, so the public is interested in participating, and ultimately it leads to online gambling."
