TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Indonesian Trade Representative in South Korea and the Government of Goyang City, South Korea have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote Indonesian coffee marketing.
Husodo Kuncoro Yakti, the Head of the Indonesia Trade Promotion Center in Busan, stated in Jakarta on Monday, November 10, 2025, that the Goyang City Government is aiming to make Goyang a coffee distribution center in South Korea by 2028.
With the increasing coffee consumption in South Korea, Indonesian coffee exporters can maximize this momentum.
"The increasing coffee consumption in South Korea each year will make the plan to establish a coffee distribution center in Goyang very helpful for marketing Indonesian coffee. We hope that the establishment of a coffee distribution center in Goyang can boost Indonesian coffee consumption in South Korea," said Husodo.
The MoU was signed by the Head of ITPC Busan, Husodo, and the Mayor of Goyang, Lee Dong-hwa, in South Korea on Thursday, November 6, 2025.
The MoU serves as a symbol of support from ITPC Busan and the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Seoul to the Goyang City Government in establishing a coffee distribution center.
Husodo expressed that Indonesia was the first country engaged by the Goyang City Government to realize these aspirations. Currently, Indonesia holds the 13th position as a coffee supplier to South Korea.
Goyang Special City has appointed one of the coffee organizations in South Korea, Good Neighbors, to carry out the plan. Good Neighbors will provide mentoring and capacity building for human resources.
ITPC Busan will collaborate with Good Neighbors in various promotional efforts to market coffee imported from Indonesia.
Good Neighbors will work with one of the coffee producer cooperatives in Indonesia, namely the East Enrekang Kasiturutan Cooperative (ETIKA) in South Sulawesi as the coffee supplier.
