TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Ramadan 2025 is coming to an end. Muslims are getting ready to celebrate Eid al-Fitr by shopping for necessities, ranging from clothes to food. In terms of food, the typical dishes for Eid al-Fitr are dishes with coconut milk and meat as the main ingredients. It would be much better to limit their consumption to maintain health.

To avoid health problems after celebrating Eid al-Fitr 2025, which falls on March 31, health expert Zubair Saleem recommends the following suggestions and prohibitions, as cited from the Greater Kashmir website: The most important thing he reminds is to stay hydrated by drinking enough water. Here are Saleem's other suggestions.

Do's

Consume balanced food
A balanced diet of fruits, vegetables, lean meats, and whole grains provides essential nutrients.

Start with a healthy breakfast
Start the day with a nutritious breakfast, including oatmeal, whole wheat bread, eggs, and fruits to replenish the energy that may have been depleted during Ramadan.

Eat in moderation
Enjoy Eid al-Fitr dishes, but control the portion to avoid overeating, which can lead to digestive problems and weight gain.

Incorporate high fiber foods
If possible, include high-fiber foods such as lentils, legumes, vegetables, and whole grains to aid digestion and prevent constipation.

Stay active
Engage in light physical activities such as walking, stretching, or yoga to improve blood circulation and maintain flexibility.

Get enough rest
After a month of fasting, get enough sleep and rest to rejuvenate and refresh your body.

Don'ts

Overeating
Resist the temptation to eat sweet and high-calorie foods, which can lead to weight gain and digestive problems.

Consuming too many sweets
Limit sweet and unhealthy foods high in fat, such as cakes and candy, to avoid spikes in blood glucose.

Eating fried foods
Reduce the consumption of fatty and fried foods as they are high in calories and unhealthy fats.

Drinking soda
Cut down on soda and sugary drinks that are usually served during Eid al-Fitr. Instead, opt for water, herbal tea, or fresh fruit juice.

Excessive caffeine consumption
Limit the consumption of drinks containing caffeine, such as coffee and tea, as it can cause dehydration and disrupt sleep patterns.

Skipping meals
Do not skip meals, especially breakfast, as it affects metabolism and energy levels throughout the day.

Excessive salt intake
Reduce high-salt or salty snacks to prevent bloating and fluid retention.

Resuming smoking
During Ramadan, the habit of smoking decreases due to fasting. Avoid resuming smoking after Ramadan, if possible, reduce gradually, or quit altogether.
