TEMPO.CO, Jakarta Professor of Psychology at the Faculty of Psychology, University of Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Rose Mini Agoes Salim (Romy) M.Psi., Psychologist, said that anxiety when returning to a routine after a vacation can be managed by thinking positively.

"To avoid the holiday blues, we need to understand that not everything in our office life is uncomfortable. We can see our colleagues, we can still go out with our family on weekends, and so on," Romy told ANTARA on Tuesday.

Post-holiday blues are usually temporary feelings of anxiety or sadness, low motivation, and a lack of enthusiasm after completing or returning from more enjoyable vacation activities, returning to our usual routine.

She said that during the holidays, the possibility of a buildup of work is unavoidable. However, to avoid mental stress, you can prioritize what to tackle first and what can be postponed.

Furthermore, it's important to examine your own personality upon returning from vacation to avoid feeling overwhelmed when returning to your routine.

You can set aside time to rest, or take a few days to get used to starting your morning routine so you're ready to return to work in a positive mood.

"This helps us get used to doing the things we're used to, so we don't suddenly have to wake up early. That way, we can gradually adjust," he said.

Romy also said that holidays aren't always fun, and there may be obstacles, whether traveling home or meeting family, during the gathering. However, with a positive mindset, these moments together will feel more meaningful and less negative.

"So, it depends on how we think. If we want to see everything negatively, it's all negative, but if we see the positive side of everything we face, it can be more refreshing for us," he said.
