TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo responded to the alleged workplace sexual harassment case within the Transjakarta company. Pramono urged the region-owned public transportation company to take firm action against the perpetrators.
Two high-ranking superiors allegedly committed sexual harassment against three of their subordinates. Pramono urged maximum punishment for the two perpetrators. "If there is indeed harassment and the individuals are identified, I will ask for the most stringent punishment taken," said Pramono in a written statement on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.
Pramono emphasized that Transjakarta must maintain the good image they have built over the years, citing a number of achievements. According to him, Transjakarta has created a more inclusive space for women to become bus conductors, as well as accepting people with disabilities in the company.
The governor called for Transjakarta's services to be improved continuously.
Three Transjakarta employees were reportedly victims of sexual harassment by two of their superiors since May 2025. The case triggered protests from several members of the Dirgantara Digital and Transportation Workers' Union (PUK SPDT FSPMI) of PT Transjakarta in front of the Transjakarta office, East Jakarta, on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.
"The first is a sexual harassment and violence case. Three of our members were harassed by two perpetrators, their superiors," said chair of PUK SPDT FSPMI Transjakarta, Indra Kurniawan, during the protest.
The two suspected perpetrators are field coordinators in the unit where the victims work. "This case has been ongoing since May, for approximately six months, but there has been no action or strict sanctions in accordance with the law," said Indra.
Indra explained that the harassment experienced by the victims included verbal and non-verbal actions during work. "The perpetrators hit the bodies of the victims. Then, hit the heads of our members, and asked them to have intimate relations while pulling the victims' undergarments," he explained.
The victims are still traumatized by the harassment and were taken to a psychiatric ward at some point. "They are still shocked and afraid," said Indra. Until now, he said, the perpetrators had only received a second warning letter without dismissal.
Head of Public Relations and Corporate Social Responsibility at PT Transportasi Jakarta, Ayu Wardhani, stated that the company is committed to the principle of zero tolerance for all forms of violence and sexual harassment in the workplace. The company, she continued, has conducted various campaigns, both within and outside the company.
According to Ayu, employees involved in ethical violations have been disciplined, "in accordance with company regulations."
