TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Google will start restricting the age of users for live streaming on YouTube starting July 22, 2025. Only users who are at least 16 years old will be able to broadcast live shows.
If you are under 16 and want to participate in live streaming from an adult's account, the account owner must be visibly present, according to the guidelines on the YouTube help page.
If a live broadcast shows children aged 13-15 without adult supervision, Google advises that the live chat be disabled. The account may lose temporary access to live chat or other features. In the future, Google also plans to implement suspensions, preventing accounts from live streaming for a certain period of time.
If the account owner is under 16, they can be accompanied by an adult willing to do live streaming together. Users must grant access to the adult, either as an editor, manager, or owner of the live streaming account.
Google emphasizes that the live streaming feature on user accounts can be temporarily or permanently disabled for various reasons, such as receiving warnings based on community guidelines. A live broadcast may also be prohibited if it is deemed similar to copyrighted content.
If an account has been restricted, users are prohibited from using another account to live stream on YouTube. Google also states that it will not allow live streaming to show someone holding or playing with firearms.
"Non-compliance with these restrictions will be considered a violation of our terms of service, and may result in the freezing of your account," Google stated.
