TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Frost dew has once again covered several areas in Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS) in East Java, Indonesia. The appearance of frost is observed in areas such as Ranu Regulo and Ranu Pani.

The Public Relations Officer of TNBTS, Endrip Wahyutama, stated that the frost phenomenon frequently occurs every year in mountainous regions. This condition usually appears near the dry season. "This phenomenon also usually occurs in other mountainous areas," he said in Malang City on Friday, July 11, 2025.

Endrip mentioned that the air temperature in the location drops to five degrees Celsius. He stated that the cold temperature and frost have not affected tourism in the area.

"The condition remains safe, only the temperature is colder," he said.

The frost phenomenon occurred in Ranu Pani, as seen in a post by the Instagram account @ranupani_indonesia. In the post, the seats of several motorcycles parked in the tourist area were covered with a thin layer of ice.

The post also included a caption stating, "It's time for water to become solid". The video post on the @ranupani_indonesia account was liked by 753 netizens.

Frost also occurred in several areas, such as Mount Bromo and the highlands of Dieng.

Tips for Tourists

Endrip advised that due to the cold temperature, tourists should better prepare themselves when visiting Ranu Pani, Ranu Regulo, or Mount Bromo. Wear thick clothing, jackets, gloves, and head covers. These items are important to prevent tourists from getting hypothermia.

Furthermore, he reminded all tourists to preserve the environment in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park area.

"We remind everyone not to touch or step on plants covered with frost, in order to preserve the ecosystem and avoid damage to the vegetation and natural landscape," he said.

Frost usually appears in the morning before sunrise. Once the sun rises, this frost disappears.
