Video Verification
The video was first uploaded to TikTok by user Novahendri510 on December 4, 2021. U.S. media Vice and the French news agency AFP also broadcast the video related to the disaster that occurred in late 2021.
According to Tempo, Mount Semeru erupted on December 4, 2021. The 3,676-meter-high volcano produced pyroclastic flows up to 11 kilometers from the crater.
The eruption of the highest mountain on Java Island, located on the border of Lumajang and Malang Regencies, resulted in at least 14 fatalities, 35 serious injuries, 21 minor injuries, and more than 1,300 residents being displaced.
No Residential Area around Mount Anak Krakatau
A visual examination of the terrain using Google Maps reveals that there are no residential areas around Mount Anak Krakatau. This contradicts the social media narrative that claims there is a residential area near the mountain.
