TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An account on Facebook [archive] posted a series of photos claiming to show the funeral procession of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The narrative on the post claimed Netanyahu was killed in an Iranian attack.
The uploader captioned the post with a farewell message for the Israeli leader. "Power is temporary, not eternal in this world. Farewell, Prime Minister of Israel, Netanyahu. May your sins be forgiven by your God," he wrote.

However, do these photos really show Netanyahu's funeral?
FACT CHECK
Tempo verified the content through reverse image searches, artificial intelligence detection tools, and credible media reports. The results showed that these photos were AI-generated. In fact, Netanyahu remains active as of the publication of this article.
On Tuesday, March 31, 2026, Netanyahu made a public appearance and addressed the public through a Viory.video broadcast. He claimed the Israeli military had successfully weakened Iran's proxy forces in Gaza, Syria, and southern Lebanon.
Opposition leader and former Israeli Prime Minister, Yair Lapid, immediately refuted Netanyahu's claims. Lapid argued that Netanyahu had failed to win the battle against Iran and was continually mired in strategic failure.
Earlier, on March 26, 2026, Netanyahu was recorded attending a virtual meeting with city leaders in northern Israel. Several media outlets, including Aljazeera.com, Timeofisrael.com, and Arabnews, also posted visual evidence of the event as evidence supporting the claim that the Prime Minister is still alive.

Tempo also tested the legitimacy of the photos depicting Netanyahu's funeral using AI detection tools. The first photo, showcasing people lowering a coffin into a grave, was detected as AI-made. Hive Moderation gave the video a 93.4 percent probability of being AI-generated.

Striking visual irregularities are also evident in the uniformity of the black clothing, head coverings, and even the mourners' poses. Anatomical details such as the feet, hands, and head positions appear unusual, a deepfake hallmark. The fingers appear misshapen, and one of the standing figures even has three legs.

The photo of the military honoring Netanyahu's body was also detected with 91.1 percent AI probability by Hive Moderation.

Several other oddities are apparent in the photo. One military personnel, for example, was caught on camera not saluting and instead placing his hands on his hips.

Furthermore, the hands of the soldiers doing the rifle salute appear blurred, while the number of feet and heads does not align with the number of guns raised, which are only two.
CONCLUSION
Tempo's verification concluded that Netanyahu's death and subsequent funeral are false claims.
