TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia has provided assurances that the national fuel stock remains secure despite current global geopolitical tensions, particularly those stemming from conflicts in the Middle East. This guarantee extends to the upcoming Eid al-Fitr 2026 exodus and return traffic.

Bahlil conveyed this certainty after personally inspecting fuel availability and services at the Bolon gas station in Colomadu District, Karanganyar Regency, Central Java, on Thursday, March 26, 2026.

During the visit, Bahlil explained that the government is continuously monitoring energy distribution, including fuel and power plant operations, to ensure public needs are met during the holiday period. He also noted that these measures were a direct instruction from President Prabowo Subianto to ensure energy supplies remain stable amidst uncertain global conditions.

"We assure the availability of both diesel and gasoline remains secure and operational, despite the geopolitical dynamics," Bahlil told reporters.

Furthermore, he emphasized the government's commitment to safeguarding supply, national energy reserves, and price stability to mitigate the impact of global upheavals. He stated that while some countries are coming under pressure due to international situations, Indonesia remains capable of maintaining energy resilience through a combination of domestic production and diversified imports.

Additionally, the government is continually seeking alternative energy sources from various countries to reduce dependency on specific regions. This effort is being carried out concurrently with the optimization of domestic refineries to strengthen and sustain the national energy supply.

"Our oil reserves are currently safe, with a minimum stock of around 21 days and regularly updated," he added.

Bahlil also cautioned regarding the difficulty of predicting potential fluctuations in global geopolitical conditions. Consequently, he urged the public to use energy wisely as part of a collective effort to maintain national energy resilience.

He also added that efficient household energy consumption would greatly aid in maintaining supply stability in the long run.

"The government hopes for the public's support to strengthen the efforts made in maintaining energy availability throughout Indonesia," he stated.
