Minister of Youth and Sports Erick Thohir received the memory of the post from the old official Dito Ariotedjo at the handover of office (certificate) event at Kemenpora Office, Jakarta, Thursday (18/9/2025). Erick Thohir replaced Dito Ariotedjo as Minister of Youth and Sports after President Prabowo Subianto was sworn in on Wednesday (17/9/2025). Erick will continue the programs that Dito has initiated and will focus on building Indonesian youth to be able to compete at the world level and remain in love with their homeland.
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Dito Ariotedjo handed over the post of Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) to Erick Thohir in a warm handover procession (certijab). Ditto called Erick a proper figure who has a long track record in the world of sports.
“I am relieved that finally my replacement is someone who in the sports world is beyond question,” Dito said during a certification with Erick Thohir at Wisma Kemenpora Auditorium, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday (18/9/2025).
Dito expressed his belief that Erick's leadership will take Indonesian sport to a higher level. He said he was Erick's true mentor in the world of sports.
“So don't be afraid, his styles are similar, but maybe more fierce, because he's from Lampung, if I'm a Solo person,” Dito said.
He added that Erick's experience in dealing with the changing dynamics in the world of sports will be a great capital to bring Indonesia to greater recognition.
“Mr. Erick understands that when he wants to change something there must be pros and cons, but I am sure that Mr. Erick experience will be able to make Indonesian sport even more afloat in the world,” Dito said.
Dito also posted a message that Kemenpora's attention should not only focus on football. He judged Erick's success at PSSI with the goal of qualifying for the World Cup was a clear testament to Erick's gait in football.
“In my opinion, I hope that other sports will be given more attention. If PSSI, the only hand line to qualify for the World Cup, is proof of Mr. Erick Thohir's success,” Dito said.
In addition, Dito expressed appreciation to the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports and Taufik Hidayat for working with him. He judged the support provided was helpful during his tenure.
“I would like to thank the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports along with Mr. Taufik Hidayat. It's the best wamen I feel in this cabinet. So Mr. Erick should be grateful to have a wamen who is upright and very supportive,” Dito said.
