TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Depok Mayor Supian Suri has not yet imposed sanctions on students who violate the curfew as of today. Starting on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, Depok has implemented a curfew program for students according to the direction of the Governor of West Java, Dedi Mulyadi.
Supian stated that the curfew regulation aims to improve the discipline of children, especially students, so they do not leave the house after 9:00 PM if there are no important activities or unless accompanied by family. Consequently, the Depok City Government, together with the TNI (Indonesian National Armed Forces) and the National Police, will monitor in 11 districts.
"We will no longer allow student to hang out, chat, after 9 o'clock," said Supian while inspecting the implementation of the curfew program on Tuesday.
Supian hopes that by that time, children will already be at home resting, as they need to wake up early and go to school. "Because we have great hope for the generation of Depok City to truly prepare themselves to face Indonesia's golden age in 2045," said Supian.
If there are still individuals outside when the curfew is in effect, Supian has requested the Regional Police (Satpol PP) and the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda) to initially take a persuasive approach."We ask you to return home, and maybe later we will try to evaluate with this program, if it is effective with this approach, God willing, we won't have to resort to other methods," said Supian.
Previously, the Governor of West Java, Dedi Mulyadi, implemented a policy to restrict student activities outside the home from 9:00 PM to 4:00 AM as of June 1, 2025. Through the Circular Letter of the Governor of West Java Number 51/PA.03/Disdik, Dedi Mulyadi requested regents and mayors to regulate the curfew down to the district and village levels.
Dedi emphasized that the implementation of the policy must be taken seriously and should not be underestimated. He affirmed that after the curfew for students is implemented, the Government of West Java will not provide assistance or cover students involved in acts of violence during the curfew period.
For example, in the case of brawls, fights, or similar incidents, even if the students require medical treatment at healthcare facilities.
"After the governor imposes the curfew, if a West Java native gets into a fight, brawl, and then requires hospitalization, West Java Province will not assist in the financing," said Dedi as quoted by Antara.
