TEMPO.COJakarta - The Special Detachment 88 (Densus 88) of the Indonesian National Police revealed that one of the five suspects involved in recruiting children into terrorist networks was planning an attack on the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) building, or the Parliament building. This was disclosed by the Densus 88 spokesperson, Commissioner Mayndra Eka Wardhana, during a press conference at the National Police Headquarters in South Jakarta on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.

The five suspects are FW also known as JT, LM, PP, MSPO, and JJS also known as BS. Mayndra stated, "Yesterday, we found that one of the perpetrators also intended to carry out an act in the Indonesian Parliament building. This necessitates immediate law enforcement." However, he did not elaborate on the nature of the intended act.

Mayndra explained that Densus 88 is making efforts to prevent children from getting involved in such ideologies. The prevention measures include physical and ideological aspects.

He gave an example of the ideological prevention measures implemented by Densus 88, the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT), and the Ministry of Communication and Digital. "We continuously remind to publish or strengthen positive and educational content, and then report negative content. This has been done," he said.

As for physical prevention, Densus 88 has detected threats of attacks on vital facilities, including security and other facilities, hence Mayndra's mention of the suspects planning an attack on the Indonesian Parliament building.

'This means that the prevention measures conducted by Densus are to protect the security of the vital national objects and the public safety, including the safety of the perpetrators and the recruited children,' Mayndra stated.

Affiliated with ISIS

Mayndra mentioned that one of the five suspects is a long-time player and affiliated with the terrorist organization ISIS.

Mayndra explained that the suspect had previously faced legal proceedings. After being released, he attempted to recruit several children into the terrorism network. "After being released, he tried to recruit a few children again," he said.

Head of the Public Information Bureau of the Indonesian National Police, Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, stated that the children suspected of being recruited into terrorism networks are spread across 23 provinces. The perpetrators have exploited digital platforms, including social media and online games. "As of now, the Densus 88 of the Indonesian National Police has recorded approximately 110 children aged between 10 and 18 years old," he said.
