TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The CEO of Indonesia’s Daya Anagata Nusantara, or Danantara, Rosan Roeslani, said the agency now manages 844 state-owned enterprises (SOEs). The number was revealed during a town hall meeting attended by SOE leaders and President Prabowo Subianto.
Rosan said on Monday, April 28, the reason for the skyrocketing numbers compared to the end of 2024—which was 47 SOEs—was because the “children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even more descendants” of the companies were accounted for.
According to Rosan, these companies have been officially under the auspices of Danantara since March 21, 2025. "So we can carry out consolidation, and we have gradually done so for the major entities that have a significant impact on the economy," said the Minister of Investment and Downstream Industry.
Previously, the SOEs Minister, Erick Thohir, has several times carried out consolidation or merger of business entities. Since taking office in 2019, Erick has planned to reduce the number of state-owned enterprises through mergers.
The Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises reduced the number of SOEs from 142 to 107 companies in June 2020. Erick aimed to cut down the number of state-owned companies to 30.
By the end of 2024, Erick announced that he would continue the process of reducing the number of SOEs in Indonesia. "There are 45 programs that we will push for the next 5 years, including how to consolidate from 47 companies to 30," said Erick Thohir at the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises office in Central Jakarta on Tuesday, December 24, 2024.
