TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Australian man who stormed toward Ariana Grande at the Wicked: For Good premiere in Singapore has been handed a nine-day jail sentence.
Identified online as “Pyjama Man,” 26-year-old Johnson Wen was charged with a public nuisance charge after lunging at the 32-year-old singer on the red carpet, leaving Grande visibly shaken.
Ariana Grande’s Singapore Incident
On November 13, 2025, the incident unfolded just as Ariana Grande was walking the yellow brick road-themed carpet at the Wicked: For Good premiere in Singapore, hand-in-hand with Cynthia Erivo and Michelle Yeoh, while greeting fans.
In an instant, a young man suddenly vaulted over the barricade from her left and grabbed her, catching the 32-year-old singer completely off guard.
Cynthia Erivo reacted to the sudden intrusion with pure instinct and determination, stepping in without hesitation to shield Grande. With a quick, commanding movement, she positioned herself squarely between the singer and the approaching fan.
Pyjama Man Jail Time
As per The Times, during Monday’s proceedings, District Judge Christopher Goh described Wen’s behavior as “attention-seeking,” noting that the defendant had deluded himself into believing such stunts carried no real consequences.
The courtroom exchange laid bare the chasm between Wen’s self-styled antics and the seriousness with which Singaporean authorities viewed the disruptions.
Despite Wen’s insistence that he would “not do it again,” prosecutors argued forcefully that his conduct revealed a “glaring lack of remorse.” They stressed that Wen’s repeated intrusions onto high-profile stages were not impulsive lapses but calculated attempts to insert himself into public spectacle.
In delivering his sentence, the judge underscored the potential for catastrophe, remarking that “it was fortunate that something bad did not occur.” He chastised Wen for “thinking only of yourself and not the safety of others when committing these acts.”
Pyjama Man’s Notorious Intrusions
Wen, who carves an online persona under the moniker “Pyjama Man,” has fashioned notoriety out of spectacle. His digital platforms document a long trail of stage invasions and high-profile disruptions, which he posts with evident pride.
In the months leading up to the Singapore incident, he had thrust himself into concerts by Katy Perry and The Weeknd, vaulting onto their stages before being forcibly removed. The footage, invariably filmed by Wen himself, fuelled his growing reputation as a social-media provocateur eager to chase virality at any cost.
His mischief, however, extends beyond pop concerts. In 2023, Wen charged onto the playing field during the Cricket World Cup final in India wearing a shirt emblazoned with a pro-Palestinian slogan.
His TikTok profile, which touts him as the “2023 World Cup Final Pitch Invader” and “Troll Most Hated,” offers an unfiltered glimpse into his disruptor identity.
Even after this latest arrest, he took to Instagram Stories on November 14 to announce he was “free after being arrested,” a gesture that seemed to reaffirm his appetite for attention.
