TEMPO.COJakarta - AirNav Indonesia estimates that the peak holiday travel during the Christmas and New Year holidays of 2025/2026 period will reach 76,972 flights. "The number of flights is expected to increase by around 3.5 percent compared to the previous holidays," said the Chief Executive Officer of AirNav Indonesia, Capt. Avirianto Suratno, in a press conference on AirNav Indonesia's readiness to welcome the 2025 Christmas and the 2026 New Year in Bandung, on Wednesday night, November 12, 2025.

According to Avirianto, the peak of the Christmas and New Year holiday traffic is expected to occur on December 19 to 20, 2025. Then the peak of the return traffic is predicted to be on January 3 to 4, 2026. "During that time, the daily flight intensity at all airports is estimated to reach 4,300 up to nearly 5,000 aircraft movements," he said.

Avirianto stated that in facing this year's Christmas and New Year holiday period, AirNav Indonesia has prepared a number of strategic measures, one of which is to optimize the role of the Indonesia Network Management Center (INMC) to integrate supervision and coordination services throughout AirNav Indonesia's working areas for 24 hours a day.

In addition, AirNav Indonesia also ensures the readiness of personnel, equipment, operational procedures, and strengthens the coordination of air traffic management internally with all branch offices. "Including integrated cross-stakeholder operational coordination," he said.

The Operations Director of AirNav Indonesia, Setio Anggoro, explained that the INMC is the center for orchestrating the flow of national airspace managed by AirNav Indonesia. "Through real-time monitoring, we can quickly adjust routes, capacities, and departure sequences when there is a surge or change in field conditions," he said.

He explained several operational steps prepared, including adjusting airspace capacities (Airspace Capacity Setting), sequencing departures and arrivals, coordinating slots and airport operational hours, and using alternative air routes (re-routing). "The ultimate goal is simple, which is for passengers to depart and arrive smoothly. Efficiency is achieved, while safety remains the top priority," said Setio.

Meanwhile, the Director of Safety, Security, and Standardization of AirNav Indonesia, Capt. Nurcahyo Utomo, stated that the priority of all efforts made by AirNav Indonesia to oversee the implementation of flight transportation is to maintain safety standards. "Every operational change still goes through safety risk assessment. Speed can increase, but safety cannot be compromised," he said.

From the aviation safety perspective, Nurcahyo said, AirNav also intensifies monitoring of risk factors such as extreme weather, volcanic ash, unauthorized balloons and kites, and wildlife around airports.

In addition, cyber security is strengthened through the Security Operation Center (SOC) and CSIRT, which are on standby 24 hours a day, including sharing threat information with the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN).

AirNav Indonesia ensures that all navigation services in 302 service units from Sabang to Merauke are in a state of full readiness to support the smooth travel of the public. "In essence, airspace is guarded, systems are guarded, and the people within it are also guarded," said Nurcahyo.
