TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Yogyakarta Palace expressed its condolences for the passing of king Pakubuwana XIII of the Surakarta Hadiningrat Palace on Sunday, November 2, 2025.
As a gesture of sympathy and respect, the Yogyakarta Palace has halted several internal activities and closed off certain areas to the public. These measures include the silence of the Gamelan. The traditional gamelan music will not be played in the palace complex for three days, from Sunday to Tuesday, November 2-4, 2025.
During the same period, the Srimanganti tour package will not be offered. Likewise, the Yogyakarta Palace Complex and the Wahanarata areas were closed to visitors and will only reopen on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.
Meanwhile, the Kagungan Dalem Tamansari tour package remains open as usual, operating from 08:30 to 14:30 Western Indonesian Time (WIB).
King Hamengku Buwono X of the Yogyakarta Palace and his consort, Gusti Kanjeng Ratu (GKR) Hemas, were reported to have paid their respects. However, the Public Relations Specialist of the Yogyakarta Regional Government, Ditya Nanaryo Aji, had not received official confirmation of this visit.
"We have not received any information about that (the Sultan paying his respects in Solo)," Ditya said on Sunday. It is confirmed, however, that the palace king has sent a wreath of condolences to the Solo Palace.
King Pakubuwana XIII of the Surakarta Hadiningrat Palace passed away on Sunday morning, November 2, 2025, at 07:30 WIB at Indriati Solo Baru Hospital, Grogol District, Sukoharjo Regency, Central Java.
PB XIII's younger sibling, Gusti Kanjeng Ratu (GKR) Koes Moertiyah Wandansari (also known as Gusti Moeng), had previously stated that PB XIII had been receiving treatment at Indriati Hospital since early September 2025. PB XIII fell ill following the completion of the Adang Tahun Dal ceremony and the subsequent Kembul Bujana tradition.
