TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Deputy Minister of Manpower Immanuel Ebenezer was arrested by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in a sting operation at the Ministry of Manpower office today. KPK Deputy Chair Fitroh Rohcahyanto confirmed the operation. "Indeed, there was a sting operation," Fitroh told Tempo on Thursday, August 21, 2025.
The anti-graft agency arrested the man familiarly known as Noel in an alleged case of extortion against companies applying for Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) certification. Immanuel was appointed Deputy Minister of Manpower in the Red and White Cabinet on October 20, 2024.
Immanuel Ebenezer was born in Riau on July 22, 1975. He is known as an activist and cadre of the Gerindra Party.
Noel's political career took off when he became the Chair of Jokowi Mania Nusantara or JoMan, extending support for the former president during his race in 2019 presidential election.
In the 2024 presidential race, Noel initially directed his volunteers to support Ganjar Pranowo, who was backed by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle. However, Noel later changed his decision by shifting support to Prabowo Subianto.
Noel was then inaugurated as the Deputy Minister of Manpower in the Red and White Cabinet in Prabowo's government. At the Ministry of Manpower, he assisted Minister Yassierli, a figure supported by the Prosperous Justice Party.
The Wealth of Immanuel Ebenezer
Based on the State Officials' Wealth Report (LHKPN) submitted by Noel on January 17, 2025, his total wealth is recorded at around Rp17.6 billion. He has several assets in the form of land and buildings scattered in Depok City, with a value of Rp12.1 billion.
In addition to immovable assets, Noel also owns vehicles with a total value of Rp3.33 billion. His ownership consists of a 2020 Mitsubishi Pajero worth Rp500 million, a 2015 Kia Picanto worth Rp90 million, a 2015 Yamaha NMAX worth Rp16 million, a 2022 Toyota Fortuner worth Rp430 million, and a 2023 Toyota Land Cruiser 300 VX with the highest value of Rp2.3 billion.
Noel also owns other movables worth Rp109.5 million, as well as cash and cash equivalent amounting to Rp2.02 billion. Thus, his total wealth is recorded at Rp17.62 billion without any debt records.
In addition to a career in politics, Immanuel Ebenezer has also served as a commissioner in a company engaged in trade, construction services, agencies, and the paint industry. Two years after being a Jokowi volunteer, Noel was appointed as the Chief Commissioner at PT Mega Eltra, a subsidiary of the state-owned PT Pupuk Indonesia. His tenure lasted for less than a year, from June 2021 to March 2022.
