TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT PLN (Persero) sent a generator set with a capacity of 250 kilovolt amperes (kVA) to ensure the continuity of healthcare services at RSUD (regional general hospital) Datu Beru Takengon in Central Aceh, amidst emergency conditions caused by floods and landslides in the area. The equipment was transported by a Sikorsky S-61A helicopter from Banda Aceh on Saturday, December 6, 2025, involving the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) and the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI).
"We are working swiftly to restore the electricity supply to the hospital. For us, this is not just a technical task, but a humanitarian responsibility," said President Director of PLN, Darmawan Prasodjo, through a written statement on Sunday, December 7, 2025.
Darmawan stated that this effort is a form of the state's presence in ensuring the continuity of healthcare services. According to him, the hospital must be given priority in energy supply during a crisis.
He mentioned that cross-sector collaboration with the BNPB and TNI is key to accelerating energy assistance to affected areas. He expressed appreciation for the support of both institutions, enabling the delivery process to proceed safely and efficiently.
General Manager of PLN UID Aceh, Eddi Saputra, explained that the aerial delivery was the only method to ensure the generator set arrived on time. This was because all land access to RSUD Datu Beru was cut off due to the disaster, making ground mobilization impossible. "With a helicopter, the journey could be completed in just 45 minutes," said Eddi.
Upon arrival at the location, the PLN personnel tested the generator set to ensure it would function immediately as a temporary power source until the main network is restored. Eddi revealed that the mobilization process of the generator set was not easy. The 3.6-ton equipment initially failed to take off during the first trial.
"After adjusting the load and lift points, the transportation finally succeeded on the second attempt," said Eddi.
