TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Mayor of Sibolga, Akhmad Syukri Nazri, has reportedly lost contact since Wednesday, November 26, 2025. This event occurred amidst the flood and landslide disasters that hit Sibolga, North Sumatra, at the end of November.

The General Secretary of the NasDem Party Central Executive Board, Hermawi Taslim, confirmed the information. He said that they have not been able to contact the Chair of the NasDem Party Regional Leadership Board in Sibolga for two days.

"For two days, we have lost contact with our friends in Sibolga and Tapanuli Tengah," he said when contacted on Friday, November 28, 2025.

He suspected that the Mayor of Sibolga lost contact due to the power and internet outages. Power and internet disruptions in Sibolga occurred due to flooding and landslides in recent days.

The NasDem Party Central Executive Board is still awaiting the latest news concerning this lost contact incident. "I will inform you as soon as we are reconnected," he said.

Bakhtiar Ahmad Sibarani first conveyed the chronology of the mayor of Sibolga's lost contact. The Chair of the NasDem Party Aceh Territory said he last received news from Akhmad Syukri on November 25.

The Mayor of Sibolga sent a message stating that road access to Sibolga is being closed due to flooding and landslides. Based on Bakhtiar's statement, Syukri explained that he was stranded in Sitahuis and had difficulty receiving a signal.

Sibolga City is one of several areas in North Sumatra Province affected by floods and landslides. According to the data from the North Sumatra Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the areas most severely affected by floods and landslides are in Tapanuli Tengah and Tapanuli Selatan Regencies.

In addition to Central Tapanuli and South Tapanuli, floods and landslides also occurred in Mandailing Natal Regency, North Tapanuli, Nias, Gunung Sitoli City, and Sibolga. In the Taput Regency, floods and landslides occurred in Sitolubahal Village and Robean Village, Purbatua District, Taput. The Aek Mahassan River overflowed, inundating about 60 houses. Based on preliminary data, 48 people have been confirmed dead, and several others are still missing.
