TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Pro-Palestinian protesters gathered outside the White House on Monday to protest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to Washington ahead of a scheduled meeting with United States President Donald Trump.
As ANTARA reported, waving Palestinian flags, the protesters carried banners criticizing U.S. support for Israel. Among them was a message asking the U.S. to stop supporting Israel and prioritize Palestinian interests.
"Stop U.S. / Israel war machine," then "Expose Israel's control of Washington," and "Palestinian human rights matter too," read the banners.
The protests took place as Netanyahu arrived in Washington for talks with Trump at the White House on Tuesday. The meeting was the eighth between Netanyahu and Trump since the U.S. president was elected to a second term.
After he meets with Trump, Netanyahu is scheduled to attend a memorial service for the late Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, a longtime supporter of Israel.
The U.S. has long been criticized for its support for Israel in the war on the Gaza Strip, where more than 73,000 people, mostly women and children, have been killed since Tel Aviv began its genocidal war on October 7, 2023.
