TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto has apologized to the flood victims in Sumatra for the power outage during his visit to a shelter in Aceh Tamiang Regency, Aceh Province, on Friday, December 12, 2025.
Prabowo visited a shelter for flood-affected residents in Sukajadi Village, Aceh Tamiang Regency, accompanied by Aceh Governor Muzakir Manaf, Regent of Aceh Tamiang Armia Fahmi, TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, and National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
Prabowo assured that the central government would intervene to assist the local government. However, he apologized for any shortcomings.
"I apologize if there are still things that are not complete. We are working hard, maybe the electricity is still out, well, has the electricity started? Okay. We are doing our best. We know it is very difficult in the field; the conditions are difficult. So, we will overcome this together," Prabowo said as quoted from the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube channel.
The President also asked the children to be patient. He stated that the government will expedite the reconstruction so that the children can return to school.
On this occasion, Prabowo also reminded the public to preserve the environment and not to cut down trees indiscriminately.
"We must be cautious now. We must take care. We must preserve our environment; we must not cut down trees indiscriminately. I ask the local government to be more vigilant, more observant, and take care of our environment as best as we can," he said.
