TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's Minister of Village, Yandri Susanto, stated that various cases of village fund corruption handled by the Attorney General's Office occurred before his leadership. He claimed that supervision of the village fund budget management is now better.
"In the previous period, there may have been a lot of misuse outside its utilization, not the current one," he said in response to the Attorney General's Office investigating many cases of village fund corruption on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.
The Acting Secretary of the Junior Attorney General for Intelligence (Sesjamintel) of the Indonesian Attorney General's Office, Sarjono Turin, stated that the number of criminal cases involving village heads reached 489 in the first semester of 2025. He conveyed this during an event at the Jayang Tingang Hall, 1st Floor of the Central Kalimantan Governor's Office, Palangka Raya, on Friday, November 21, 2025.
He explained that corruption cases involving village heads continue to rise. There were 184 cases in 2023, 275 cases in 2024, and 489 cases from January to June of 2025. These cases involve corruption, both collectively and individually.
Sarjono explained that there are limitations in human resources for supervision at the village level. There are approximately 75,289 villages in Indonesia that require supervision, but prosecutor's offices at the district attorney level cannot reach remote villages.
Yandri stated that they have collaborated with the Attorney General's Office to oversee the utilization of village funds. "There is something called the village guardian prosecutor. There is the Apdesi system for reporting village funds, including reporting if there are issues," said Yandri.
Some alleged village fund corruption occurred in villages such as Amolengu in South Konawe and Cendono in Central Java.
The South Konawe District Attorney's Office has named the head of Amolengu village, with the initials LOI, as a suspect in the corruption of village fund management for the 2021-2024 fiscal year. Prosecutors found allegations of budget misuse reaching Rp1.1 billion out of a total of Rp2.76 billion received during that period. The modus operandi involved manipulating village activities that did not comply with regulations and submitting financial accountability reports without valid evidence.
Meanwhile, the Kudus Police have named the head of Cendono village, 57-year-old UM, as a suspect in a case of alleged corruption and deviation in the Village Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBDes) for the 2022 and 2023 fiscal years. The state loss in this case is estimated at Rp571.24 million.
