TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The North Sumatra Regional Police's drug investigation unit raided a liquid vape factory suspected of containing class I narcotics worth Rp300 billion in West Medan District, Medan, North Sumatra.
As reported by Antara, on Monday, June 30, 2025, police chief Inspector General Pol. Whisnu Hermawan Februanto said the case was discovered following a citizen report.
Following the discovery of the drug-laced liquid vape production, Whisnu said that the police arrested two individuals, AS and JH, on Wednesday, June 25. The raid took place when the two suspects were about to deliver two packages.
Investigation found this production has been running for two months and has completed six distributions.
In addition, the North Sumatra Regional Police also confiscated evidence including 2,965 pieces of narcotics-containing cartridges that were already packed, 35 pieces of cartridges containing liquid that were not yet packed, solvents, laboratory equipment, raw materials, and narcotics precursors.
From the remaining materials found at the scene, police estimate the factory can produce 57,000 more drug-laced cartridges. "From all the confiscated evidence, an estimated 600 lives have been saved, valued at Rp300 billion," said Whisnu.
"We urge the public not to hesitate to report any suspicious activities related to drug distribution in their areas," he said.
He appreciated the public's support in disseminating information as a joint effort to combat drugs in the North Sumatra region.
