TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong is closely monitoring the situation of Indonesian citizens following a massive fire at the Wang Fuk Court high-rise residential complex in Tai Po, Hong Kong, on Wednesday, November 26, 2025.
In an official statement from Jakarta on Thursday, November 27, the Consulate General said it is actively tracking the condition of Indonesians in the area, including migrant workers, and coordinating with local authorities to provide assistance and register those affected.
The Consulate urged Indonesians impacted by the fire to contact the KJRI Hong Kong hotline at +852-5242-2240 or the panic button at +852-6773-0466 for support.
The Consulate also expressed its deepest condolences to all victims and their families. The fire has claimed at least 44 lives, including a firefighter, while 279 people remain missing.
In addition, 29 victims are being treated in hospitals, seven in critical condition.
Firefighters brought the blaze under control at 01:20 AM local time on Thursday after battling the fire through the night.
Over 140 fire engines and 800 personnel, including paramedics, were deployed, with drones used to monitor the situation.
