TEMPO.CO, JakartaMinister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono revealed that Indonesia is prepared to contribute to a peacekeeping mission for Gaza. This statement was made following the Ministerial Meeting in Istanbul, Turkey, on Monday, November 3, 2025. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan led the meeting, which was attended by the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Jordan, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.

"On the 3rd, we received an invitation from what we later named the New York Group to Istanbul to discuss the renewal of the peace process in Gaza," said Sugiono when met in the Pancasila Building area, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday, November 5, 2025.

Implementation of Ceasefire

According to him, the meeting discussed two main aspects, namely the continuation of the peace agreement and the latest situation on the ground.

Sugiono stated that Indonesia highlights the ongoing violence in Gaza.

"There are still attacks carried out by Israel, which according to our records until October 29 reached around 200 deaths and nearly 600 injuries," he said.

At the forum, according to Sugiono, Indonesia also emphasized the importance of all parties exercising restraint so that the ceasefire process proceeds in accordance with the agreement.

"So, what we hope for from the peace process and ceasefire is that it can truly happen according to what has been agreed upon together," said Sugiono.

Indonesia's Readiness in Peacekeeping Mission

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto previously stated before the UN General Assembly on September 23 that Indonesia is ready to send 20,000 or more troops to Gaza if there is a UN resolution mandating it.

Regarding the deployment of peacekeeping forces, Sugiono emphasized that Indonesia is ready to participate.

"In general, we convey that Indonesia is ready to contribute to this peacekeeping process," he said.

However, he emphasized the need for an official mandate from the UN. "As for the details, implementation, and modalities, and certainly an impartial official mandate from the UN," he said.

Sugiono explained that no technical discussions have taken place regarding the deployment of forces.

"In my view, perhaps we will prepare a new troop, but we haven't discussed it at all," he added.
