TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto expressed confidence that Indonesia’s economic growth could reach up to 5.6 percent in the fourth quarter of 2025.

The projection comes after growth slowed to 5.04 percent in the third quarter, compared to 5.12 percent in the previous quarter.

“We are optimistic the figure could reach between 5.4 and 5.6 percent,” Airlangga said at a press briefing at his office in Jakarta on Wednesday, November 26, 2025. He outlined several factors supporting the government’s outlook.

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) previously reported third-quarter growth of 5.04 percent. Consumption, which accounts for 53.14 percent of Indonesia’s GDP, grew by 4.89 percent, slightly lower than 4.91 percent in the same period last year.

Syafruddin Karimi, an economist at Andalas University, said household consumption, although still supporting GDP, was no longer the main driver of growth in the third quarter.

Consumer spending today, he noted, remains focused on essential goods and services, while purchases of durable goods are being postponed amid concerns over risk and borrowing costs.

Syafruddin added that exports of goods and services provided a notable lift to the economy, supported by rising export volumes, a recovering tourism sector, and improved supply chain conditions.
