Immigration Probes Dutch Nationals over Bali Running Event

6 hours ago 4

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Directorate General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights is launching an investigation into a running event in Bali that barred local residents from participating. Authorities suspect the event was organized by two Dutch nationals.

Director General of Immigration Hendarsam Marantoko stated that his office has instructed the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office to summon all relevant parties, ranging from the event organizers to the sponsors supporting the Bali Silent Disco event.

"If the event was organized by a foreign entity, then that action is not legally justified under immigration law," Hendarsam said, as quoted on Sunday, July 26, 2026.

Hendarsam stated that authorities uncovered evidence pointing to Entourage Bali as the organizer, identifying two Dutch nationals at the helm: JAS (35), who holds a Limited Stay Permit (ITAS) for employment, and HQV (37), an investor ITAS holder.

"Both foreign nationals are confirmed to have left Indonesia on Wednesday, July 23, 2026. Therefore, we imposed an entry ban, and both individuals are no longer permitted to re-enter Indonesia," Hendarsam said.

Hendarsam added that foreign nationals are prohibited from organizing events or acting as event promoters in Indonesia. Foreigners are only allowed to serve as official crew or team members for events featuring international performers or artists.

In follow-up actions, the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office is summoning the corporate sponsors and guarantors of the two Dutch nationals, identified as PT SIG. During questioning, officials are examining the sponsor regarding the foreigners' activities while in Indonesia, including their compliance with stay permit conditions.

"If the guarantor or sponsor is found to have violated immigration regulations, we will process them strictly in accordance with the provisions," Hendarsam said.

Meanwhile, Hendarsam emphasized that all activities involving foreign nationals must comply fully with regulations, leaving zero tolerance for lawlessness. Foreigners, he noted, must not establish their own rules or foster exclusivity within Indonesian jurisdiction.

According to Hendarsam, all legal protections and services are based on the principle of public-centered immigration governance. "This means the state, through its immigration mandate, must consistently guarantee justice, public order, and the peace of mind of our citizens against any form of foreign non-compliance," he said.
