TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Danantara Asset Management (DAM) has urged state-owned company PT PAL Indonesia to continue accelerating corporate governance by optimizing technology utilization and accelerating various strategic programs to strengthen the national maritime industry.
"As strategic assignments from the government increase, companies must be supported by healthy corporate governance, good governance, and using technology that can increase competitiveness sustainably," said PT DAM President Commissioner Rabin Indrajad Hattari in a statement in Surabaya, Saturday, as quoted by ANTARA.
Moreover, Rabin said that PT PAL Indonesia is a national strategic asset that plays a vital role in establishing Indonesia as a strong maritime nation. However, he appreciated PT PAL's project management system which was able to maintain discipline in implementing strategic projects.
Therefore, PT DAM will continue to encourage the government to support PT PAL's strategic programs so that the transformation can be faster and provide a greater contribution to strengthening the national shipbuilding industry.
"The success of the transformation must continue to be accelerated by strengthening corporate governance, risk management, and adopting technology as a foundation for long-term growth," he said.
PT PAL Indonesia President Director Kaharuddin Djenod explained that the company's transformation is not only directed at increasing productivity but also building a maritime industrial ecosystem capable of creating added value for the national economy.
According to him, the shipbuilding industry has a much greater multiplier effect than other industrial sectors. In addition to driving the national supply chain, this industry also creates a large number of jobs both directly in shipyards and indirectly.
He said that every ship constructed at PT PAL not only drives the national supply chain by increasing the Domestic Component Level (TKDN) but also creates extensive employment opportunities in various supporting industrial sectors.
"This way, the resulting economic benefits will be spread more widely and make a real contribution to the growth of the national industry," said Kaharuddin.
