TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Cirebon City Police have named two suspects in connection with the landslide at Galian Gunung Kuda, Cipanas Village, Dukupuntang District, Cirebon Regency, West Java.

Cirebon City Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Sumarni, stated that the two individuals were designated suspects after investigators conducted examinations involving the relevant mining department.

"Each with the initials AK and AR," Sumarni announced on Saturday night, May 31, 2025. Both are identified as the mine owner and the head of the mine's technical department.

They are believed to have violated the Environmental Protection and Management Law, which carries a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison. They are also charged under the Occupational Safety and Health Law, Manpower Law, Mineral and Coal Mining Law, and Article 359 of the Criminal Code.

"We found criminal elements in this case," Sumarni confirmed. The police are still open to the possibility of identifying additional suspects in the Galian C Gunung Kuda landslide case.

Referring to a statement from the West Java Regional Police, AK refers to Abdul Karim, the Chair of the Al Azhariyah Boarding School Cooperative (Kopontren), while AR is Ade Rahman, the Head of the Al Azhariyah Pesantren Cooperative's Mining Technical Department.
