TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Australian Open 2025, a Super 500 badminton tournament, reaches the semifinal stage on Saturday, November 22, 2025. Seven Indonesian representatives will compete today at the Sydney Olympic Park, aiming to secure their places in the final.
Two Indonesian pairs will face off in the men's doubles semifinals: Fajar Alfian / Muhammad Shohibul Fikri and Sabar Karyaman Gutama / Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani. This "civil war" guarantees that Indonesia will have at least one representative in the final.
These teammates have met twice before, with both encounters taking place last July at the Japan Open 2025 and the China Open 2025. In both matches, Fajar and Fikri emerged victorious in straight games.
Meanwhile, the other Indonesian men's doubles pair, Raymond Indra / Nikolaus Joaquin, faces a tough challenge against the second-seeded Malaysian pair, Goh Sze Fei / Nur Izzuddin. If Raymond and Nikolaus secure a victory, it will set up an all-Indonesian final.
In the women's doubles, two Indonesian pairs remain in contention: Rachel Allessya Rose / Febi Setianingrum and Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma / Meilysa Trias Puspitasari. They will compete against representatives from the United States and Japan, respectively.
In mixed doubles, the second-seeded Indonesian pair, Jafar Hidayatullah / Felisha Nathaniel Pasaribu, will duel against the third-seeded Thai pair, Ruttanapak Oupthong / Jhenicha Sudjaipraparat. This match presents an opportunity for Jafar and Felisha to avenge their defeat at the Hylo Open 2025 in October.
Finally, in women's singles, second-seeded Putri Kusuma Wardani will face Canada's seventh-seeded Michelle Li. This marks the first meeting between the 23-year-old Indonesian and her Canadian opponent, who is 11 years her senior.
Indonesia sent a total of 13 representatives to the 2025 Australian Open; the other six were eliminated prior to the semifinal stage.
