TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The 212 Grand Reunion is scheduled for December 2, 2025, at the intersection of the National Monument (Monas) in Central Jakarta. The event carries the theme "The Moral Revolution to Save the Republic of Indonesia from Criminals and Free Palestine from Occupiers."
The spokesperson for the 212 Grand Reunion, Aziz Yanuar, stated that the preparations for the event are more than halfway complete. "The spirit of 212 that has been built over the past nine years is to strengthen Islamic brotherhood, national unity, and human brotherhood. It is this spirit that ignites our enthusiasm for unity, so this year we are still holding the grand reunion 212," Aziz said when contacted on Monday, November 24, 2025.
He mentioned that the event is expected to be attended by thousands of people from various backgrounds. He claimed that the reunion is a means to strengthen national unity, as was the original goal of the 212 Action held nine years ago. The activities this year will begin with congregational Maghrib prayers, followed by dhikr, collective prayers, and sermons by scholars.
The Chair of the Steering Committee (SC), Ahmad Shobri Lubis, stated that the event will also extend an open invitation to President Prabowo Subianto as well as several ministers and other state officials. Additionally, Habib Rizieq Syihab is also scheduled to attend the grand reunion.
"We have invited all elements of society, Islamic organizations, including President Prabowo Subianto and ministers and public officials," Shobri said on Monday, November 24, 2025, as quoted by Antara.
He hopes that the 212 Grand Reunion will be a platform for togetherness between the government (ulil amri/umaro) and the people in a religious and national atmosphere.
"Insha Allah, we will gather together between the umaro and ulama as well as the Islamic community to ask Allah SWT for guidance, security, and blessings for Indonesia, so that the goals of the state can be achieved according to the aspirations of our nation's founders," Shobri said.
The 212 Grand Reunion commemorates one of Indonesia's major protests, which took place on December 2, 2016, also known as the 212 Action, ahead of the Jakarta Governor Election. The movement led by Rizieq Syihab, along with the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), formerly known as the Islamic Brotherhood Front, saw thousands of people filling the grounds of Monas and the Sudirman-Thamrin roads.
This action was carried out to pressure the investigation of a blasphemy case by the then-Governor of Jakarta, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok). Ahok lost to Anies Baswedan in the Jakarta Governor Election. Anies was supported by Rizieq and his followers.
